• As a marine tourism operator, some activities take place in natural environments where accessibility may be limited. We encourage guests to discuss their requirements with us before booking so we can provide accurate advice and make reasonable accommodations where possible.

Arrival Information

• Guests generally arrive via ferry or water taxi at Great Keppel Island.
• Our team can provide assistance with:
• Boarding and disembarking vessels where safe to do so
• Carrying luggage or equipment
• Providing additional boarding time
• Explaining the day’s itinerary
• Please advise us in advance if assistance is required.

Mobility Accessibility

• Due to the island’s natural environment:
• Access may involve sand, uneven ground, jetties and boat ramps.
• Some boarding may require stepping between vessels and pontoons.
• Sea conditions can affect vessel stability during boarding.
• Some locations are not wheelchair accessible.
• Keppel Dive & Water Sports and the GKI Hideaway each have a beach wheelchair available for use.
• Keppel Dive’s Accessibility vessel, Keppel Adventure, is suitable for both regular and beach wheelchairs and has a forward lowering ramp to aid in disembarking and boarding and an automated platform at the rear for entering and exiting the water for swimming and snorkelling.
• Mainland pick-ups are available on request. Call the team for a quote.
• Where practical, staff will provide assistance and suggest alternative activities that may better suit individual mobility requirements.

Diving and Snorkelling

• Many guests with disabilities successfully participate in diving and snorkelling.
• Participation depends on:
• Individual ability
• Medical clearance where required
• Weather conditions
• Instructor assessment
• Safety considerations
• Adaptive techniques may be available for some guests.
• Our instructors assess each participant individually to ensure activities can be undertaken safely.

Water Sports Equipment Hire

• Equipment available may include:
• Kayaks
• Stand-up paddleboards
• Snorkelling equipment
• Staff can assist in determining whether equipment is suitable based on individual experience and physical ability.

Communication

• Our team is committed to clear and respectful communication.
• Staff can:
• Provide verbal explanations
• Repeat instructions when required
• Allow extra time
• Communicate directly with guests and support persons
• Answer questions before and during activities

Assistance Animals

• Where legally permitted and safe, assistance animals are welcome in accordance with Australian legislation.
• Please contact us before your visit so appropriate arrangements can be discussed.

Support Persons

• Support persons are welcome to accompany guests.
• Please advise us at the time of booking if a support person will be attending so we can recommend the most suitable tour arrangements.

Medical Conditions

• Guests should advise us of any medical conditions that may affect participation, including (but not limited to):
• Heart conditions
• Epilepsy
• Diabetes
• Asthma
• Recent surgery
• Pregnancy
• Mobility limitations
• Other relevant medical conditions
• Some activities, particularly scuba diving, may require medical clearance.

• Please contact us before your visit if accessible toilet facilities are required so we can provide the latest information.

Safety

• In some circumstances, weather, sea conditions or operational safety requirements may limit participation in certain activities.
• Where an activity is not considered safe or appropriate, our staff will recommend an alternative experience wherever possible.
